You’ve heard the definition of insanity, right? Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. Usually this Einstein quote comes up when people repeatedly engage in bad habits. But wouldn’t this principle apply to good habits too? Of course, it would. First, you have to figure out which good habits you should incorporate into your day. In other words, what are the most basic activities you have to do every day to get the results you want? Do them over and over and you will be the successful person you want to be.
Jerry Seinfeld said the key to succeeding as a comic was to have good jokes and good jokes were the result of writing every day. What has come to be known as the ‘Seinfeld Strategy’ is a pretty simple idea. Get a large yearly wall calendar, a red marker, and most importantly a specific task that if done every day will lead to the results you want. Seinfeld knew that writing would produce the jokes that would get the laughs so he wrote every day, marking a big red X on his wall calendar, resulting in a chain. The chain of red X’s created a visual record of achievement and the motivation to keep on going and that is the secret to his successful career.
If you want insane results, get in the habit of doing the right thing over and over.
